Kempshott Neighbourhood Policing for March

Another successful month in Kempshott.

Some issues have been addressed and some are on going.

Parking at Kempshott Schools

The parents at the Kempshott schools have received a letter from me in my own “style” rather explaining the merits of not parking on double yellow lines and the like.

To some this may seem a tad petty but the pick up and drop off times in and around the area of the schools is getting to the point of lunacy and drivers are putting children at risk.

Neighbourhood Watch

The Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators continue to do some outstanding work – truly outstanding work actually – I make no bones about it – they make my job a million times easier.

There have been a concerning series of reports I have received from numerous “informants” (a police term which I use slightly inaccurately but you know what I mean) that drivers are using their mobile phones whilst driving. Can I just make it abundantly clear that this practice is both against the law and extremely dangerous.

I will be contacting my colleagues with the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) about this – trust me they are not to be trifled with – RPU enforce “traffic” law – are intensely professional – and save lives – pure and simple – I will ask their team to look into this issue (as they do all the time) specifically in Kempshott. Don’t put yourself into a court based situation!

Vehicles Break ins

There have been a few “breaks to vehicles” recently. Please can I remind all residents to NOT leave anything valuable what so ever in your car. Criminals only need to look into a car window, smash it and run – it takes seconds and you risk loosing a lot. Get out of the habit of leaving valuables in your vehicle and you will reduce the chances of having your vehicle broken into.

In addition I should also mention car thefts resulting from burglaries. We have been very unfortunate recently with a couple of “Vamoose” type breaks. What this means is that the burglar has gained entry to the victim’s house, stolen their car keys then stolen the vehicle itself.

Please do not live in the fear of crime but take preventative steps such as keeping all hand bags, wallets, car keys and the like by your bed at night time.

Finally

Finally we have had a slight change in our team – PCSO 13649 Raf SZMYDYNSKI has moved to a different beat  – I’m sure we all wish him well on his move. In the meantime myself and Nat will continue to patrol the area.

I should mention at this point that Nat does have the same legal powers as Raf and that her requests should be heard with the same level of authority/validity as Raf’s were.

I know that this has not happened on a couple of occasions and the details of those individuals are now in my hands – please don’t put yourselves on the receiving end of the additional legal powers that I have – there will only be one outcome and it is wholly unnecessary to tempt fate.

Thanks for taking the time to read and again we look forward to seeing you out on “the beat”.
